Roulette Variants at Jackpot Jill

There are a number of different roulette variants since the game was first introduced. Roulette is one of the oldest table games and is simple to play. The three main variations are American roulette, European roulette, and French roulette. However, online software providers have developed even more variants you will only find online.

The basic rules and betting options for the different roulette games online are all similar. Below we take a look at the differences for each of the most popular online roulette variations below.

Traditional Popular Roulette Variations

European Roulette

European roulette is one of the most common and popular variations of this age-old game. This roulette game gives players the biggest chance to win since the house advantage here is a mere 2.63%. The European roulette wheel has 37 divisions – one [1] to 36 are alternating in colours in black and red, and zero [0] is green. As with all roulette games, the main objective is to predict where the ball is going to land once the dealer spins the wheel. Players place their bets, the dealer spins the wheel, and then fate takes over.

American Roulette

Another popular variant of roulette is American roulette. There are 38 numbers on the American roulette wheel, including zero [0] and double zero [00]. Straight Up, where the player bets on one number, is the highest-paying bet in American roulette. Straight Up bets pay out 35:1. A player can also bet on a set of numbers using odds/evens and colour bets that pay the lowest odds. Despite paying out 1:1, these bets are considered safe because the winning rate on these types of bets is quite high.

French Roulette

French roulette pays homage to the sophistication and decadence of Europe, and epitomises that fashionable French style. It’s played with numbers 0 to 36 and various chips sizes with pay-outs for different types of bets. The style and layout of the French roulette table are a little different from European and American roulette. But then, perhaps that’s what gives it that characteristic French flair!

Online Roulette Variations

Common Draw Roulette

Common draw roulette is based on the classic European roulette game, with a roulette wheel that consists of 36 numbers, plus the zero, which gives players a slightly better chance to win. As with all roulette variants, the name of the game in common draw roulette is to predict where that little white ball will land.

Multi-wheel Roulette

Multi-wheel roulette ups the ante by giving you the chance to place bets on not one, not two, but EIGHT roulette wheels at once! You can choose which wheels are active during every spin. There's only one betting table, though, which means you’ll place one bet for all eight wheels and give yourself eight chances of winning!

Multi-player Roulette

Multi-player roulette, as the name suggests, means that you get to play with other people, as you would in a land-based casino. It’s an energetic, social game that gives you the chance to talk strategy with your fellow players or simply have a chat while you watch that wheel spin, spin, spin.
